John Murray “Jack” WILLIAMS
WILLIAMS, John Murray “Jack” August 25, 1931 – August 17, 2014 – Jack passed away peacefully in his home in Langley after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born in Vancouver and was one of the city’s first hotrodders, a gifted machinist and fabricator and a drag racing icon at Mission Raceway. He was known for the beautiful Syndicate Scuderia dragster built in the early 60s. He was one of the first members of the BCCCA and longstanding member of the BCHRA and takes with him a wealth of motor sport knowledge and history. Jack is predeceased by his parents Mary and Tom and his wife Gerry. He is survived by his brother Al (Colleen); first wife Pat and children Sharon and Patrick, Wendy Ann (John) and Dean; grandchildren Kelly, Tracy, Kelsey, Lindsey, Brendon, Kyle, Kevin (Misty), Travis and Jenna and many great-grandchildren. Private Burial will take place in North Vancouver. The family invites everyone to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., at the Shannon Hall on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. Bring your ride for Jack.
I am sorry to report that another of our Pioneers has passed away. Jack Williams or as he was known ‘Mr Hemi passed away last night, August 17, 2014 at 10:10. He was with his daughter Wendy who has been with him through his ordeal. Jack will be remembered by people all across the racing world for his Syndicate Team. He raced up and down the coast in one of the most beautiful dragsters ever built.Jack built some of the best custom cars ever , he was a pioneer in building dragsters and custom cars. His work with Hemi’s is incredible. He has touched all parts of the motorsport field from drags, customs, hot rods, motorcycles, boats, drag boats, he has done them all.
I am going to miss my friend of sixty years and I know almost every gear head around will also. RIP Buddy.
