Ed A’Court

Ed A’Court was an early member of the Sports Car Club of British Columbia (SCCBC), a racer, a special builder and business man.

Ed was born in 1932 in Vancouver and was in his mid-twenties when the sports car scene exploded in the Vancouver area and he was right in the thick of it. Ed built three racing sports cars, known at the time as specials.
The first was a modified 1932 MG J2

that was fitted with up-rated hydraulic brakes and a highly modified Ford Consul engine. The second special was based on the Don Diamond (fellow SCCBC member) class winning special but was fitted with the running gear from the MG. It was with this car that Ed won the SCCBC class F modified championship in 1955.

The third and most effective special was based on the Arleigh Pilkey built

MG special but once again Ed installed his trusty Ford motor. Ed also rebodied the car with an attractive aluminum full fendered unit.

Ed A’Court will be best remem-bered for his British Car Parts business started in the early 1950s where he specialized in those difficult to get racing and sports car parts.

Sadly, Ed passed away in 1969 at an early age.
