Bud has been a long time resident of British Columbia and has always been involved in performance vehicles. In the early 1950s, Bud had a nice low-ered, black 1940 Mercury Coupe that was often seen around south Vancouver. Bud is an engine builder by trade. He started as an automotive machinist at Ideal Automotive over fifty years ago, he worked there for six years. Bud has built many racing engines In 1964, Bud opened his first shop; Engines Unlimited on Commercial Drive near Broadway. In 1971, he moved to an 8000 square foot, new building, in Burnaby, that contained a warehouse for parts and a machine shop. enjoyed motorsport and watching his son, David, compete. Over the years, High Performance Engines has sponsored oval track cars, road race cars, drag race cars and drag boats. Some recent drag boats and cars have topped 200 mph in the 1/4 mile. Bud is semi-retired, having turned the business over to his son in 1994, but he still enjoys being involved around the motorsport scene. He has many fond memories and friendships he has made over the years. Bud is a true motorsport supporter. |
