About Us

Introduction
The Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society (GVMPS) is a group of motorsport enthusiasts from various motorsport activities.

The GVMPS is incorporated under the Societies Act of the province of British Columbia.

Goal
Our goal is to recognize and record the contributions of those who were pioneers of motorsport in this region.

Purpose
Pioneers are generally considered to have contributed, or have begun their contribution, at least forty years prior to induction and have had a strong connection to Vancouver, British Columbia and its surrounding communities. Inductees fall into one of many motorsport disciplines:
Hot Rod, Custom Car and Drag Racing, Sports Car and Road Racing, Oval Racing,
Motorcycling, Power Boat Racing, Supporter, and Others.

Inductees
Inductees are selected in either of two categories:

Pioneers
Individuals who personally contributed greatly to the sport as competitors, drivers, team owners or in other direct roles.

Supporters
Individuals, organizations, and others who provided the necessary support for the Pioneers and the sport in general to flourish.

Membership

Member/Pioneer Nominating Process
The Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society encourages nominations and suggestions from the motorsport public and our base of inductees. If you know of anyone, or an organization, whom you feel has contributed to early motorsport in the Greater Vancouver area please let us know.
We are looking for people from all forms of motorsport including: oval, drag, power boats, motorcycle, sports car, hot rods and custom cars, and any other motorized sport. If it is motorsport, and it happened in the Greater Vancouver area, we want to know about the pioneers.

There are two categories of Pioneers:

Pioneers
Individuals who personally contributed greatly to the sport as competitors, drivers, team owners or in other direct roles.

Supporters
Individuals, organizations, and others who provided the necessary support for the Pioneers and the sport in general to flourish.

The Society needs help in identifying nominees and gathering information on them. While the committee has considerable knowledge, we definitely do not know it all.
We are constantly improving and updating our yearbook. Any contributions of information and photographs will be greatly appreciated. Photographs will be copied and originals promptly returned.
